Born and raised in Victoria, George spent his childhood in the Central Saanich and Sooke areas under the tutelage of Freeman King. After attending Oak Bay High School and the University of Victoria he was commissioned as a Logistic Officer (specializing in Supply and Transportation) in the Canadian Army living and experiencing many areas of Canada and Europe and retired as a senior staff officer to Sooke after 32 years of military service.

Since his return to Sooke in 1994, George has been active in community service and includes:

Sooke Community Association – former Vice-president and current member;
All Sooke Day Committee – former Chair;
Sooke and South Malahat 4-H clubs – past youth leader;
Sooke Safe Halloween Committee – former Chair;
Sooke Restructure Committee – Treasurer;
Sooke Rotary Club – former member;
Sooke Ratepayer’s Association – former Vice-President;
Sooke Historical Society – member;
Royal United Services Institute of Vancouver Island - member;
OAP #88 – former Director and current member;
Elected to District of Sooke Council 2002 -2005;
Member of DR BC and President of Riding Association, and
Campaign manager for Leader of DR BC in 2005 provincial election.
